Rukhsat Khatoon-e-Jannat Salamullah Alayha / Baba Ko Rote Rote Jo Zahra Guzar Gayi - With English Translation

Rukhsat Khatoon-e-Jannat Salamullah Alayha
The Departure of the Lady of Paradise (peace be upon her).

Baba ko rote rote jo Zahra guzar gayi
Lady Zahra passed away while weeping for her father.

Qabr-e-Rasul ke paas ye huzoor beqarar the
Near the Prophet's grave, everyone stood overwhelmed with grief.

Aankhon mein bas rahi hai ajab dukh ki dastan
An extraordinary tale of sorrow remains before the eyes.

Aisi lagi ke zakhm ne rota bana diya hai
The wound struck so deeply that it turned life itself into mourning.

Taslim kis tarah se musibat ko dil kare
How can the heart ever accept such a calamity?

Wo wali-e-din bhi to be-fikr na reh saka
Even the guardian of the faith could not remain untouched by this grief.

Usmah ke bachche the Allah ka sahara tha
The children of the household had no support except Allah.

Kya tha wo gham ke alam ko bhi junun tha
Such was the magnitude of the sorrow that it overwhelmed the entire world.

Nauhe ke bain se dar-o-deewar kaanp uthe
The lamentations made even the walls and doors tremble.

Insan hi kya tha falak bhi na ro saka
It was not only mankind—even the heavens could not hold back their tears.

Ye jis ke intezar mein the sab ahl-e-wafa
The one whom all the faithful had long awaited...

Bichhre to un ko dekh ke sab ashkbar hue
...when separated from her, everyone was reduced to tears.

Piyada sawari lane wali khud na rahi
The one who would herself come on foot to welcome others was no longer there.

Khud ruk ke kis ke dekhne aati Ali
For whose sake would Ali now stop and wait?

Phir to Ali ne ghar mein qayamat si pa li
Then Ali found that his home had become a scene of calamity.

Matam hi matam aur wahan pur aza hui
Everywhere there was mourning, and every corner was filled with lamentation.

Sab dard se the girya kun
Everyone was weeping in unbearable pain.

Bachchon ko yun tha janaab-e-Haider ka intezar
The children waited anxiously for their father, Haider.

Sheeraza-e-khatir tha ek taraf
The composure of every heart had fallen apart.

Parhte the dareedah dil ek taraf
On the other side, torn hearts continued their mournful recitations.

Haider ko dekh ke khatir pukara
When they saw Haider, they called out to him in anguish.

Tere hi kuch is tarah se guzar pada
This sorrow had descended upon you in such a heartbreaking way.

Kaha tha ya akhiri mera qabool ho
She had said, "May this be my final request that you accept."

Sadaqah huzoor ka afw hasil ho
May I attain forgiveness through the grace of the Messenger.

Meri wasiyyat faramosh na ho
Do not forget my final testament.

Awwal ye ke aap mujhe ghusl dijiye
First, that you yourself perform my ritual washing.

Doosre ye ke shab ko janaaza uthaiye
Second, that my funeral be carried at night.

Yad aaye ke jisne bhi sataya mujhe
So that those who wronged me...

Unko na khabar ho ke kahan dafn hai
...would not know where I was laid to rest.

Sevvum ye hai ke bas beton ko lijiye
Third, take only my sons with you.

Shafqat se betiyon ki bhi dekhiye
And care tenderly for my daughters.

Ghar mein jo hue Haider tanha shab-e-gham
When Haider was left alone in the house on that sorrowful night...

Thaam ke ye boli sare Shah-e-Mardan ki
She held herself together and addressed the Lion of God.

Acha Hasan ki shadi racha dijiye
Please arrange Hasan's marriage.

Dulha bana ke meri qabr bhi laiyega
Bring him to my grave as a groom so that I may behold him.

Muhabbat se mere ghusl ko de dijiye
Wash my body with your own loving hands.

Rukhsat mujhe duniya ki zanjir se kar dijiye
Release me from the bonds of this world.

Kisi baat par jo mujh se ranjida ho gaye hon
If I have ever caused you pain in any matter...

Mujh ko maaf kar dijiye
Please forgive me.

Kehne lage Ali, tum mein kuch bhi kami nahin
Ali replied, "There has never been any shortcoming in you."

Tum jaisi hamsafar na kisi ko ata hui
No one has ever been blessed with a companion like you.

Na tana ka zikr kiya, na shikwa kiya
You never taunted me, nor did you complain.

Har haal mein razakar rahi
In every circumstance, you remained patient and content.

Yeh sunte hi dukh bhare ye alfaaz nikle
Hearing this, these sorrowful words were spoken.

Nikle kafan se aadha janab-e-Rasul ke
It was as though the Messenger himself emerged halfway from the shroud.

Bachon se boli, meri aakhri guzarish suno
She said to her children, "Listen to my final request."

Na chhorna ek dusre ka saath
Never abandon one another.

Bachon apne sar se saya kho baithoge
My children, you are about to lose the shade of your mother.

Mere baad ek dusre ka sahara hona
After me, become one another's support.

Us roz se Ali ne sukun dobara na paya

From that day onward, Ali never found peace again.

Apni Fatima ko roz dil se yaad kiya
Every day he remembered his Fatimah with all his heart.

Koi nahin shareek hui Rasul ki beti ke gham mein
None could truly share the grief of the Messenger's daughter.

Tamam apne hi us ke janaze mein shamil the
Only her closest family attended her funeral.

Shab ke andhere mein janaza uthaya gaya
Her funeral was carried under the cover of night.

Kisi ko us ki qabr ka nishan na bataya gaya
No one was shown the location of her grave.

Raaton ko aksar Murtaza tanha rote rahe
Many nights, Murtaza (Ali) wept alone.

Aansuon ne un ki palkon ko bhigo diya
His tears soaked his eyelashes.

Yatim bachche maa ko pukarte rahe
The orphaned children continued calling for their mother.

Har sada dil ko cheer kar guzar gayi
Each cry pierced every heart.

Sughra aur Kulsum ki aankhen nam rahin
The eyes of the daughters remained filled with tears.

Hasan o Husain sabr ka daman thamay rahe
Hasan and Husain held firmly to patience.

Mazar-e-Zahra aaj bhi poshida hai
Lady Zahra's resting place remains hidden even today.

Yahi us mazlumah ki pehchan hai
That hidden grave itself has become the mark of her oppression.

Yun marsiye ka khatma hua
Thus the elegy comes to its conclusion.

Har dil ne Zahra ke gham mein aansu bahae
Every heart shed tears in mourning for Lady Zahra.
